Eubanks Solutions has been workin!

Updated: Jun 8

The last 12 months Eubanks Solutions has been putting in a lot of work to create and support youth and their support systems (peers and adults). Outside of the normal operations of supporting youth with mentorship in the schools (K12) we have created several opportunities. The first opportunity that got the ball rolling was The Determination to Succeed Back2School summit, designed for middle and high school African American males as they are the lowest performing group of students in education. It was extremely important to us based on the results and the success The Determination to Succeed workshop and mentoring program was garnering. That led to the creation of the back2school summit which was a proactive approach to jumpstarting the school year off with tools, strategies, and skills for a successful school year. Parents throughout the year contacted us thanking us for the summit as their children that attended, they could see the change in their students during the school year. The Determination to Succeed Mentoring Program added a monthly curriculum that supported students with skills that are needed for their growth academically, socially, and emotionally. That led to a successful partnership with an area school district that shared that the cohort had significant improvement in their behaviors and effort toward school in general.

One thing that we knew to repeat the success of our endeavors was funding, so we generated a partnership with Madison5KGospel and became our fiscal sponsor to be able to apply for grants but also wanted to do something that was ours. We created a fundraising opportunity via an awards banquet. We created The Determination to Succeed Community Awards Banquet to honor members of the community that do the work from a traditional but very unrecognized way. We honored community members in five categories: Community Aunt, Community Uncle, Coach, Cross-generational mentor, and an Entrepreneurial mentor. The community voted on the winners, and the cost of attendance is going to the 2nd annual Determination to Succeed Back2School Summit that will take place on August 23rd at Capital High School from 9-3 with participant check in at 830. The fundraising banquet was a bigger success than we thought it would be but this led to more ideas of creating opportunities for the youth.

The next idea we had was centered around students and their idle time during the summer months, so we created a virtual program called "Water the Seeds". A lot of time is spent working with students on their academics and extra-curricula's like sports, more time should be dedicated to them and their personal growth, creating community, and literacy which is what Water the Seeds is focused on. A video going in depth of the program has been created and can be shared if you email eubanks.solutions@gmail.com if you are interested. The summer program starts June 15th and goes through August 10th, meeting biweekly virtually. We have also continued our support in helping student athletes reach their goals of playing college basketball and getting exposure to schools, as we have helped a student secure a scholarship this week.
